We don't keep a formal list anywhere- though we've got a few people now, we really should. But people's duties are fluctuating and diverse-
We'll call it a project in the works. There's me and Kate, we're here almost full time, then there are five or six young people who do mostly scavenging. We also liaise with the watch group that's starting up, and teach them first aid classes, so in an emergency they'll be on-call, I guess, or helping triage? But they're all new amateurs.
All right. I understand. So it's a volunteer as needed sort of group. That sounds like it makes sense given the nature of this place. You don't know who will be incapable of helping when those things happen.
How often would you need my help? Or is that up to me?
Completely up to you. I could use some relief in terms of shifts being on hand- I try to keep someone here at all times and I'm feeling a little cooped up.
[Even mostly living here.]
So whatever you're comfortable with? You can also join Kate and I- we're doing a long term, standing card tournament.
I can stop by a bit everyday if that makes things easy for you. Does anywhere from three to eight hours a day work for you? And if you need me to stay longer if the workload is hefty, I can do that, too.
That's all right with me. I'm sure I have the gist of everything here.
[He tips his head to the side just a bit.]
Why out into the caves? They're fairly dangerous aren't they? My roommate and I made a trip there to see what they were about and ran into some...difficulties.

How did you manage? Are there a lot of volunteers.

A long-term, standing card tournament?

Date: 2016-06-12 09:25 am (UTC)We made our own deck. Right now we're on crib, but we might move to rummy, or pull a fourth in for yuker.

My roommate and I tried making a deck, but making it was more of the recreation than playing with them.
[And he will show them to no one because a few cards involve boobs and scribbles thanks to his roommate]

So if it's all right with you, I might leave you here for an hour or two. I'd like to get back out to the caves this week.

I'll let Kate know you're here.
