[Hakkai follows him into the small room and looks around to familiarize himself with the things there. He recognizes the things needed for the minor injuries, having needed to treat countless bumps and scrapes of his travelling companions.
His little dragon looked around along with him, letting out a small "kyuuuuuuu?"]
Did you get these things from the gods here? I haven't seen many first aid supplies in the shops. A few ago, I just used the alcohol from the bar and cloth I had cleaned and cut into strips for bandages. The wound wasn't very serious.
No, I scavenged them, and had volunteers scavenge them.
[Bruce lies through his teeth, but he had promised Ronan with all his heart that he wouldn't out him as the supply here, and he means to keep his word.]
What year is it where you're from?
lmfao! THERE IS LITERALLY NO REAL TIME PERIOD IN CANON. NOT EVEN A FAKE YEAR. ALL WE KNOW IS CHINA.
[It would make sense to make all of the medical supplies centralized in one area for easy access under the care of someone who knows how to use them. So he doesn't question it.]
Yeah. I mean, if there's a spectrum, and one end is leeches and bloodletting, the middle is dialysis and antibacterial soap, and the far end is bacta and hyposprays, where are you?
[Oh God, what is a delicate way to ask if he's a faith healer from Bruce's world, ie unlikely to have undergone clinical testing but if people believe it helps it probably doesn't hurt, to something more dramatic.]
I mean that very literally. I can close deep gashes and prevent further blood loss and scarring. I can't mend broken bones or cure illnesses or anything of the like. So it's useful in emergencies.
[Thankfully for Bruce, Hakkai doesn't rely on faith to do anything practical.]
I could probably heal the whole of Hadriel with the amount of people now if they all needed healing. Maybe a few more if I pushed myself. Then I would need a few day's recovery time. [He says that like it's no big deal.
He places a hand to his chin in thought.]
If someone's been peppered with bullets, they're a goner, but if they've been sliced up by a sword with none of their vital organs damaged, I can heal them. I can probably soothe up to 3rd degree burns...
So... if they don't need surgery or a blood transfusion, I can help them.
I can also do it the old fashioned way. I've had to patch up broken ribs and arms, sprained joints, variations of lacerations. I've had to take care of illnesses, poisons... All of these being the same people.
[His life is suffering.]
Hakuryuu can also turn into a Jeep in case we need emergency transportation. The roads are hard to drive on, but it's better than having to carry multiple people on foot if need be.
[Hakkai has no answer for him. He doesn't even really understand how it works. All he knew was that magic and science and then his dragon. He can drive it and that's all that matters, really. It got him and his companions from point A to point B with the occasional accidental detour.
He can understand how someone not from his world would be baffled by something like Hakuryuu.
So all he could do is lift his shoulders in a shrug.]
Ahaha! You're just fine, I assure you. I'm guessing your world doesn't have dragons that can turn into vehicles?
[He lets out another laugh and pets the hood of the jeep. The jeep'so headlights flash as it lets out a "kyuuu", then transforms back into the tiny, little flying dragon.
[He leads him back inside to show him around the rest of the small medical stores, to the back, where there are more boxes of things, a bit of the larger equipment, and most importantly, a couple of cots for staff to crash out on after long days. It's a good set up.]
[Hakkai follows him along quietly during the rest of the tour, listening to the explanations given to him about the things there. He's impressed by how well put together the clinic is by just gathering stuff he found and whatnot.]
How busy does this place get? I'm guessing pretty busy when it's more...eventful here?
We don't keep a formal list anywhere- though we've got a few people now, we really should. But people's duties are fluctuating and diverse-
We'll call it a project in the works. There's me and Kate, we're here almost full time, then there are five or six young people who do mostly scavenging. We also liaise with the watch group that's starting up, and teach them first aid classes, so in an emergency they'll be on-call, I guess, or helping triage? But they're all new amateurs.
All right. I understand. So it's a volunteer as needed sort of group. That sounds like it makes sense given the nature of this place. You don't know who will be incapable of helping when those things happen.
How often would you need my help? Or is that up to me?

You mean for medical technique purposes?

Ish?

[He reaches up and strokes his dragon under his chin.]
He was created through science and magic. So it's a mixed range of stuff.
[That was the best explanation he could come up with.]
I, myself, can heal using my qi.

[He says, blinking hard. Maybe he's pinned the wrong name on this little creature.
He sort of hopes so, honestly.]
no subject
[He nods. He sure didn't pin the wrong name.]
Hahaha...I don't know the mechanics of it, but he can turn into a jeep that seats about five people comfortably.
[It is what it is.]

[He proposes, putting his clipboard down and moving to follow along.]
I'm not going to be able to picture it.

[He goes outside and lifts up an arm for his dragon to fly off of his shoulder.]
Hakuryuu, please transform for us.
[Hakuryuu lets out a cute little "kyuuu!" and in a flash of light, he transforms into a full sized open top green jeep
Hakkai goes over to it and pats the hood. The sound it makes signifies that it is indeed made of a metal.]

[Bruce has seen ridiculous things in his time, gave up on the idea of conservation of mass years ago, but this is pushing it, even for him.
Maybe it's all, Hadriel from start to finish, one elaborate gamma sickness related hallucination?]

Okay, let's go finish the tour.

Did anyone explain what happened there? I take it you're quite new- you might not remember.
no subject
I'm fairly new. I haven't heard of being buried. I've only heard of...people meat?
no subject
Suffocation, starvation, dehydration, bruising, torn knuckles, fingernails, and so on.
no subject
These gods certainly know how to get what they want, don't they?
How did you manage? Are there a lot of volunteers.
